Atatürk Research Center was established on 17 August 1983, under the umbrella of the Atatürk Supreme Institution of Culture, Language and History, with legal personality, with the law no. 2876, pursuant to Article 134 of the Constitution, in order to conduct scientific research and investigations on Atatürk and the History of the Republic of Turkey. With the Decree Law No. 664, which came into force on November 2, 2011, the duties of the Atatürk Research Center Directorate were rearranged. With this latest regulation, our Institution is entitled to examine the sources concerning Atatürk s personality, thought, principles and reforms and the history of the Republic of Turkey and the basic scientific and cultural works produced during the Republic period and prepare them for publication, or have them prepared, to collect books, brochures, magazines and similar materials written in foreign languages, to organize them with scientific methods, to organize scientific meetings, trips and exhibitions on subjects related to their duties, to support those who conduct studies and research and those who do postgraduate studies, to support Atatürkist thought, Atatürk, at home and abroad. It is responsible for supporting local and foreign real and legal persons who prepared the foundation of our Republic with its principles and reforms and who produced outstanding works on the causes and developments of the events during the Republic period.
