The fair, which was held last year with the participation of 1.015 publishing houses and non-governmental organizations from Türkiye and abroad, also hosted newly published or promoted works that did not reach large audiences. In 2024, Yalvaç Ural, one of the leading names in children's and youth literature, was honored with the 41st Annual Awards by the TÜYAP Cultural Fairs Advisory Board. He was selected as the "Honorary Author" of the International Istanbul Book Fair. Yalvaç Ural's fairy tale world and his contributions to children's and youth literature formed the main theme of the fair that year. The fair also hosted cultural events organized with the participation of Yalvaç Ural.The main theme of the fair was determined as "Childhood is Festival!". Inspired by the works of Yalvaç Ural, the 41st International Istanbul Book Fair celebrated the importance and value of childhood, the golden age of imagination and discovery. The activities held within the scope of the fair also included events that contributed to the mental and emotional development of children, encouraged them to read, and allowed them to use their imagination freely.

A Full Event Program Awaits You
Various events are waiting for you to benefit from the knowledge of the leading writers and poets of the literary world. For nine days, you can have a unique experience with cultural events such as poetry recitals, interviews and panels, and you can closely follow the developments in the literary world. You can have a pleasant time with activities such as workshops and theater performances, and you can have fun experiences as well as shopping for books.Highlights of the 41st Istanbul Book Fair held in 2024:
- Interactive Event Area: Visitors had an enjoyable time in the interactive event area created within the fairground, where engaging activities were organized according to daily themes designed for both children and adults. (Themes: Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Applications, Fantasy Day, Manga-Anime-Novel Characters Day, Creativity and Design-Dream It, İş’te Kitap, Books with a Taste Inside (Gastronomy Books), Detective Fiction, and My First Book at TÜYAP.)
- Children’s Choirs: A total of seven children’s choirs performed throughout the fair, bringing delightful moments to the audience. These included the İBB Culture Children’s Percussion Ensemble, Büyükçekmece Municipality Children’s Choir, Tuzla Municipality Stage Children, Kadıköy Municipality Children’s Art Orchestra and Soloists, Yuvamız Bayrampaşa Children’s Education Center Children’s Choir, Tuzla Municipality Stage Youth, and Silivri Municipality Cultural Center Children’s Choir.
- Award Ceremonies: Three award ceremonies were held during the fair: the Attila İlhan Literature Awards Ceremony, the Doğan Hızlan Literary Research and Criticism Awards Ceremony, and the Cevdet Kudret Literature Awards Ceremony.
- Exhibitions: Three exhibitions took place, including the Yalvaç Ural Exhibition, the Children’s Magazines Cover Exhibition, and the TÜYAP Art Exhibition.
