SODEF was established by a group of intelligentsia, who attach importance to the social democracy thought and consists some parliament members, trade unionists, scientists, artists, lawyers, engineers, educationalists and labourers. The founders of Social Democracy Foundation has determined the aim as working for settling the pluralist and liberalistic democracy in the society with its all concepts, rules and organisations; to widespread the respect for human and the nature; to make the values like freedom, equality, solidarity, justice, peace and honesty common ones for every human being . In the way of these aims, SODEF has been actualising lectures, panels, seminars and symposiums. SODEF s founding-chairman is Ercan Karakaş and Rasim Şişman is current chairman of the foundation.
