Fikrimin İnce GülüFikrimin İnce Gülü
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

A journey story, a search for identity, a map of contradictions Adalet Ağaoğlu s unforgettable work, Fikrimin İnce Gülü, recounts Bayram, a laborer in Germany, traveling through his homeland in his Mercedes, which he nicknames Balkız, revealing the conflict between individual desires and the realities of society. This modern classic, posing universal questions about capitalist values ??and human self-alienation, invites its reader to reconsider at every stop: How free can one be in the pursuit of one s desires? Is travel in the modern world merely a physical act, or does it carry deeper meaning? Ağaoğlu s masterpiece, etched in memory by the film Yellow Mercedes, continues to hold a unique place in Turkish literature.

Câvidanname-i Sağîr ve Dürr-i Yetîm TercümesiCâvidanname-i Sağîr ve Dürr-i Yetîm Tercümesi
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

This work brings together the Javidan-name-i Sağir, a simplified and edited version of Javidan-name-i Kebir, the masterpiece of the Hurufism founder Fazlullah Esterabadi, and its word-for-word translation into Ottoman Turkish, Dürr-i Yetim. The original text of Javidan-name-i Kebir, written in the Gurgan dialect, has become inaccessible to some readers due to its repetitions and disorganized structure. Recognizing this, Sheikh Abu l-Hasan, one of Fazlullah s successors, translated Javidan-name-i Sağir from the Gurgan dialect into modern Persian, and over time, it has become one of the most important ways to access the text. All the sentences in the work appear in the Kabir, but it is unclear whether Fazlullah was directly involved in the text. Derviş Murtazâ, a Bektashi dervish who grasped the importance of this text, meticulously translated the Câvidân-nâme-i Sağîr into Ottoman Turkish and titled it Dürr-i Yetîm. This work is notable not only for its transmission of Hurûfî thought but also as a significant example of Ottoman translation history. Boğaziçi University Press, implementing this project, has published the Câvidân-nâme-i Sağîr and Dürr-i Yetîm on opposite pages. This edition, prepared with meticulous attention to the exact consistency of paragraph and sentence beginnings, facilitates comparisons between the texts and offers researchers a unique resource. This special work, designed for researchers of Sufism and Hurûfism, scholars interested in Ottoman translation history, and readers wishing to practice reading Persian, is a remarkable reference source for both its intellectual world and its editorial technique.

Political Economy of East AsiaPolitical Economy of East Asia
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

The center of gravity of the global economy has been shifting toward East Asia in recent years as a result of China s rapid growth. Long before China, however, Japan, then newly industrializing countries like Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong, and finally Southeast Asian countries, experienced rapid development. Following major crises Japan s in the early 1990s, and the others in the late 1990s their economies stalled, returning to moderate growth rates. Despite its recent slowdown, China has strengthened its position as a major economic and political actor in the region. This book, featuring contributions from experts in economics, business, history, and international relations, explores the political economies of the major global East Asian countries, the economic and political balances among them, and Türkiye s relations with these countries. It is one of the few original studies on East Asia available in Türkiye. It is an essential resource for researchers, academics, and students interested in East Asia.

In the East, teachers never lecture. At least not in our sense. A true teacher never explains or offers prescriptions. The Eastern teacher is a living example of what can be achieved with infinite patience and unwavering perseverance. Nothing in the Eastern tradition is directly applicable to the West. This is the primary reason Yoshi Oida came to Europe. What lessons will he encounter in this hemisphere he knows little about? He generously shares this quest with us in his books. He explains the challenges he has faced, vividly evoking examples from the past and present that have guided him for years. He avoids offering a method and tries to teach. Instead, he brings a workday to life with humor and humility, fueled by the special understanding bestowed by his tradition his dreams, defeats, ideals, and discoveries. But he deceives us with the title of his book. In reality, there is neither a game nor an explanation. He simply has experiences. That is the true lesson. Peter Brook

Dil MitiDil Miti
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Language is fundamental to our lives. Some scientists have argued that language is innate and a uniquely human instinct. This view posits that the grammar underlying all of the world s approximately 7,000 languages ??is essentially the same. In short, humans are born with a specialized module for grammar in their brains, and their ability to acquire language is made possible by this inherited module. Vyvyan Evans demonstrates that this widespread assumption is, in fact, a myth. Evans demonstrates that language is linked to other forms of animal communication, that languages ??exhibit striking diversity, that when learning our native language, we draw on general characteristics and skills of the human mind rather than an innate, universal grammar, that language is not autonomous but closely interconnected with other aspects of our mental universe, and, finally, that language and the mind reflect the way we communicate with others. According to Evans, language does not emerge spontaneously, effortlessly, contrary to popular belief. It arises primarily from the linguistic input we are exposed to. From this input, we construct our native language through the use of it. It is not an innate Universal Grammar, but rather various general learning mechanisms that enable us to acquire our native language. Based on cutting-edge research and demonstrating the relationship between language and the mind, this study offers a powerful challenge to the prevailing view.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

We re constantly preoccupied with psychology. Our age, our moods, our unconscious, our emotions, and our mental health are constantly on our radar. News, television programs, movies, and the internet are awash with claims about psychology. The workings of the brain, mediums, out-of-body experiences, memory loss, lie detectors, emotional relationships, parenting, abused children, mental disorders, crime stories, and psychotherapy are among the most popular topics of interest. However, many things we believe to be true about psychology are actually fallacies; in fact, misinformation about psychology is at least as common as accurate information. Conversely, the number of books in popular psychology that can help us distinguish truth from falsehood is staggering. The 50 Big Myths of Popular Psychology is a perfect example of this: it exposes common beliefs that don t align with science; it offers counter-evidence to many myths that seem true; it explains why people fall prey to such misinformation; and it showcases facts about the human mind and behavior that may disappoint some, but that demonstrate how truth can be as captivating as fairy tales.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

We are in the years when Cemal Pasha, Minister of the Navy and one of the Committee of Union and Progress most important leaders, was appointed Commander of the Fourth Army in Syria. By reading this book, you will see that Cemal Pasha not only served as the head of the civil and military bureaucracy in the region. Cemal Pasha s activities would transform the administrative mindset of the Ottoman Empire in line with the Unionist worldview. Through this work, you will understand how destructive conditions such as war also facilitated leaders nationwide transformation of mindset. This work, the product of extensive research conducted in Turkish archives, including those of the German, Austrian, and Turkish Historical Society archives, which are less frequently used by scholars, offers a depth on the subject that nationalist historiography and books based primarily on British documents cannot provide, enabling us to understand events within a broader context.
