An Istanbul Book Fair Tradition: Honorary Author

In 2025, the TÜYAP Cultural Fairs Advisory Board has selected Murathan Mungan—one of the most versatile voices in contemporary Turkish literature—as the “Honorary Author” of the 42nd International Istanbul Book Fair. Known for his extensive literary journey spanning poetry, short stories, novels, and plays, Mungan has left a profound mark on the Turkish literary landscape. This year, he will take center stage at the fair, where attendees will have the opportunity to engage with his work through special talks, panels, and cultural events.

The main theme of this year’s fair is “Every Form of Literature.” The theme aims to create a rich cultural meeting ground by embracing diverse literary genres, narrative styles, and voices. Murathan Mungan’s multilayered body of work stands as a powerful representation of this theme, offering insights into literature as not just a form of writing, but as a means of understanding life, memory, and humanity itself.
