The Turkish Librarian s Association was established under the leadership of Adnan Ötüken on November 19, 1949 in order to gather Turkish Librarians under the roof of a professional organization, to create an environment where they can make their voices heard, discuss their problems, seek solutions for them, and create a community of friendship and solidarity. With the establishment of TKD, librarians had a professional organization and an important step was taken towards perceiving librarianship as a profession. In the general assembly held in 1996, professional ethics principles were accepted and announced to the members. In the same general assembly, it was decided to form permanent groups to work in various fields of the profession. Our Association; With its modern, rational and progressive perspective, branches spread across the country and its members increasing day by day, it continues its activities by closely following the developments in the world.
