WRITER of HONOR and THEME CHOSEN for the 36th INTERNATIONAL İSTANBUL BOOK FAIR

Organized by TÜYAP Fairs in partnership with the Turkish Publishers Association, the 36th International İstanbul Book Fair will be held between November 4 and 12, 2017 at the TÜYAP Fair Convention and Congress Center, Büyükçekmece.
 
More than 800 Turkish and foreign publishers and nongovernmental organizations are expected to take part in the fair with a host of events, workshops for children, lectures by authors and hundreds of autograph sessions bringing writers together with their readers.
 
Writer of Honor and Theme Chosen
 
The Book Fairs Advisory Board named author Ayla Kutlu the Writer of Honor of the 36th International İstanbul Book Fair. A series of panels and events will be held on the life and works of Kutlu with appearances by the author herself.
 
The theme of the fair will be “Glad to have you, literature”. The Fair prepares to host prominent foreign and Turkish writers around the theme, and a number of cultural events featuring Ayla Kutlu and other authors as guest speakers.
 
Guest of Honor: Republic of Korea
 
The International İstanbul Book Fair will host Korea as the Guest of Honor to celebrate its 36th year. The Korean booth will be available for visiting in the International Hall for the first 4 days of the fair (November 4th to 7th), and will promote Korean literature and culture. Guest of Honor events will include interviews, panel discussions, professional meetings with publishers, and children's events.
 
Leading Korean authors will meet with their readers at the İstanbul Book Fair. Full details and attendees of the program will be revealed in a press conference to be held in Istanbul during September.
 
 
The 36th International İstanbul Book Fair will be held concurrently with the 27th International İstanbul Art Fair-ARTİST 2017. The fair will be open between 10 am and 7 pm during the week and between 10 am and 8 pm on the weekend. The fair will close at 7 pm on Sunday, November 12. Admission to the fair will be free for students, teachers, pensioners and disabled persons.
